Barossa Valley - South Australia

The Barossa Valley is South Australia's wine producing jewel. From Lyndoch in the south, to Nuriootpa in the north, and including Tanunda, Rowland Flat, and Angaston, The Barossa is South Australia's best known wine producing region. But it's not just all about wine, The Barossa is the home of great food, interesting heritage, beautiful nature and a place to relax and enjoy! Around an hours drive north of Adelaide the Barossa Valley is easy to get to for a day trip or a great place to stay, relax and spend some time.

The Barossa Valley is a wine lovers paradise, with hundreds of quaffing possibilities, one is never too far away, from the big well known labels to the smaller boutique wineries. Visiting the local wineries, is a great introduction to the history and heritage of the Barossa Valley, and while touring around You will be pleasantly surprised by the wonderful architecture and beautiful scenery.

Gawler is the largest centre in the region and although only an hours drive from Adelaide, has its own feel and pace. Much time can be spent in this lovely city with its many beautiful old buildings. Gawler is a great base to stay to sample the many wonderful places of interest in the area.

From Gawler head east to Sandy Creek, and on to Lyndoch.

Lyndoch is a scenic town with a lot to offer. The Bakery is well regarded for its produce, there are several well known wineries in the area, and a market is held once a month.

To the south of Lyndoch is the quiet, scenic town of Williamstown at the edge of Mount Crawford Forest, and a little way further on into the Adelaide Hills is Kersbrook. To the north east of Lyndoch is Rowland Flat, home of the world renowned Orlando Winery. Further north along the Barossa Valley Highway is Tanunda and historic Bethany.

North from Tanunda is Nuriootpa, the main business centre of the Barossa, home of the Penfolds Winery.

Follow the road east from Nuriootpa to the scenic township of Angaston, home of Angus Park Fruits.Or travel north east along the Sturt Highway to Truro, the gateway to the Murray Mallee and the Riverland.
